Im selling these partially hurt puppies for a dear friend. Modern generation (2009+) Spendor SA1 bookshelf speakers. These were a bigger and more dynamic version of the LS3/5 model, using a terrific mid-woof that was so smooth Spendor ran it up to 4.4kHz cross to a modern SEAS 22mm tweeter. Renowned for its tonal purity with human voice, piano, chamber works, folk and opera. Superb soundstaging! One is in as-new condition operationally, with only a couple of tiny outer marks; the other just blew its mid-woofer, forcing this auction!I may keep the one for mono use in a secondary room or workshop and the others excellent tweeter, crossover and cabinet for spare parts (if my spouse will let me!) or you can enquire within if you just need a cabinet, tweeter or crossover, as Ill part it out to someone in need. This auction is for THE PAIR, with original sturdy double-boxes. I see working pairs of these currently listed predominantly in the UK for L700-800 ($900-1100), so am offering this set at less than HALF that...so essentially with a free one for rebuild/parts. Sold new for $2200/pr, with extremely similar new S1 for same price. As well as for small rooms they make superb nearfield desktop monitors, as the high crossover allows for a remarkable coherence...and theyre a compact 6.5W x 12H x 7D, sealed design so wall placement works well too. 11.5lbs each. Only 84dB/W, so they, like all similar Brit iterations, want decent power to be very dynamic. Magnificent Spendor A1 speakers in oak. Beautiful condition. Delivered in original packaging. Purchased Sep ´20. One tiny superficial bump on corner of one speaker - see pic. I’ve moved house and have moved on to some floor standers. I’ve had these A1s on shelves and on speaker stands, they sound great in both situations and with no rear port, are very comfortable close to a rear wall.
