I am downsizing and selling my Spendor S8e loudspeakers. I have taken very good care of them. They are in excellent condition and come with two pairs of black cloth speaker grill covers. Speaker spikes are included. I have always used the custom made top driver cover. The grill covers have no defects.The wood is beautiful and there are no noticeable defects. The Spendor S8e is a two way bass reflex speaker. It has a 27 mm coated fabric dome tweeter and 210mm (81/4 inch) woofer. The cabinet is a beautiful light oak and constructed with a thick well braced frame. These speakers have a gorgeous mid range and treble and a throw out a huge sound stage and go down to at least a conservative 44 Hz. If you dont own a sub you will hardly miss it. Originally sold for around $2,800. The Absolute Sound review stated; You are getting as close as a whisker to $30,000 in sound. At $500.00 they are priced to sell. I cannot go any lower. This is Spendors SP9/1 manufactured in the 1990s. They are basically the floor-standing version of Spendors legendary SP-100. Ive had them for a little over 20 years and theyre still in nearly perfect shape for the age. No damage/cracking to woofers, speakers, tweeters, at all. The cabinets are structurally just as strong as Day One. Each speaker weighs over 100 pounds. They came with spikes but Ive misplaced them from moving. The story goes that this speaker was very difficult to get in the US and that Spendor only made a limited run of these because the cabinets were just too expensive to build for it to be cost-effective. Ive always cared for them - never abused them. I believe retail was north of $6K. Because of their sheer weight, they will only be for pick-up. Of course, they sound amazing. If eBay allows my video to play, Ive included a clip of them playing just to get a sense of their sound (obviously, this will be limited by your computer speakers.) I actually did a longer 8-minute video for comparison to B&Ws 805S in order to show how much deeper and articulate the Spendors go that I may be able to put on YouTube. Subwoofers in the video were turned-off. These will come with (2) 15 ft MIT AVt3 bi-wire interconnects that I think I paid $500 for. Im happy to answer your questions as best I can. Thanks!

Im selling these partially hurt puppies for a dear friend. Modern generation (2009+) Spendor SA1 bookshelf speakers. These were a bigger and more dynamic version of the LS3/5 model, using a terrific mid-woof that was so smooth Spendor ran it up to 4.4kHz cross to a modern SEAS 22mm tweeter. Renowned for its tonal purity with human voice, piano, chamber works, folk and opera. Superb soundstaging! One is in as-new condition operationally, with only a couple of tiny outer marks; the other just blew its mid-woofer, forcing this auction!I may keep the one for mono use in a secondary room or workshop and the others excellent tweeter, crossover and cabinet for spare parts (if my spouse will let me!) or you can enquire within if you just need a cabinet, tweeter or crossover, as Ill part it out to someone in need. This auction is for THE PAIR, with original sturdy double-boxes. I see working pairs of these currently listed predominantly in the UK for L700-800 ($900-1100), so am offering this set at less than HALF that...so essentially with a free one for rebuild/parts. Sold new for $2200/pr, with extremely similar new S1 for same price. As well as for small rooms they make superb nearfield desktop monitors, as the high crossover allows for a remarkable coherence...and theyre a compact 6.5W x 12H x 7D, sealed design so wall placement works well too. 11.5lbs each. Only 84dB/W, so they, like all similar Brit iterations, want decent power to be very dynamic.
