Cosmetically it has few minor flaws, the worst being a few scratches on the front as can be seen in some of the pictures.I have owned it for many years and never had a problem with it. Age and a smaller home kinda force the sale.Prior to listing it has been tested for power output and basic functionality and all checks OK. The scope photos show it pumping 100Wrms 1KHz sinewave across a 50 Ohm load using the RCA unbalanced input. This power output was produced with a 1.5Vrms input as specified. The square wave picture shows a much higher 200Wrms power level with still no distortion and perfect DC response. (Try that on most other amps). Results were identical for both channels. SHIPPING is free to the adjacent 48 states. The unit weighs 65lbs unpacked and for this reason I would prefer local pick up, in which case I will reimburse $200 to the buyer. A signed receipt will be required from the buyer at pick up time. If shipping is requested, I will hand the unit to UPS for packing and shipping, so they assume full responsibility for its safe delivery. In excellent operational condition and very good aesthetic condition (8/10 due to small scratches). They would ship in their original wooden crates. HI. Here is a very nice, great sounding Analog preamplifier by the highly respected American manufacturer: Spectral. This is the model DMC-5. If you know about this manufacturer, you know this was A State of the Art unit from the 1980s. The manufacturing quality is absolutely gorgeous. The component quality is from the finest available from the era. The phono stage is one of the finest ever made. It can easily take a low output moving coil Phono Cartridge straight in with no step-up devices. It probably had the widest bandwidth of any preamp of its time. It still works great, and is remarkably quiet. This is a piece of high end history: The first real production preamp from Spectral (the predecessor MS-1 was, in the words of designer Demian Martin a : “Kitchen table” piece). I haven’t used this unit in years, but I plugged it in and checked that inputs and outputs work. It is a gorgeous sounding preamp!On Oct-02-24 at 10:50:11 PDT, seller added the following information: Using a cd player. I just got thru testing all inputs. Switches are all clean and perfect, volume and balance controls are smooth (detented), and perfect, with no scratchy noises. I tested the phono input using a reverse RIAA network from Jeff Rowland Design Group and everything works as it should. And still sounds terrific. This is really a great preamp. I wouldn’t give it up, except that I rarely play records anymore, and I am using a tube phono stage. This unit deserves to be played regularly!
