Hate to part with this beloved piece. Belonged to my best friend who passed away. We would listen to vinyl for hours on this. The top cover was removed and lost because it lived in a vacuum enclosure. He was an audiophile of the highest order. Now, please note the tone arm lock is broken and can probably be fixed or replaced but that doesn’t affect playing or quality. It comes with a Premier PIB-1 for RCA output & grounding. The shock absorbing float system works well. I can’t speak to the stylus condition, assume you will replace it with your own. 1” tear in the felt of the plinth. See pic. I’d really like to sell this to an end user that loves music but would part with it to a dealer if necessary. Cheers and happy bidding!

This turntable new would be worth well over $3000. It sounds fantastic and with the upgrades will last a long time. This is a early 80’s Sota that has been upgraded with the above components within the last 2 years. Only blemish is the slight raising of wood on back side of plinth that has no effect on the table whatsoever. This table is huge and weighs a lot so local pickup only. You will not be disappointed. This Sota Sapphire is non-working/for parts only. It was purchased as part of an estate liquidation so we do not have the history. But all equipment from this single mans estate has been well cared for. Cosmetically it is excellent condition. The turntable dust cover is clean with minimal light hairline scratches and NO cracks. We hooked up the turntable and could not get it to power on. We are not familiar with this vacuum style turntable so have not attempted any repair. We do not have the original Sota box but we do have the tonearm original box. SOTA (Short for State of the Art) Star Sapphire Audiophile Turntable with Vacuum Clamping System Comes with acrylic supermat and SOTA reflex clamp. Integral to the design is the outboard power supply and vacuum unit. This is not a common wall wart but a fully regulated power supply and two-stage vacuum unit. SOTA determinted back in the late 80s that the quality of the incoming AC had a direct determination on the performance of a turntable. Additionally, in the same enclosure is the two-stage vacuum unit. It runs at full power for a period of five seconds, to firmly mate the LP to the platter, then a relay switches the vacuum to maintenance mode to maintain the suction. It attaches to the Star with a proprietary large diameter umbilical cord for supplying power, as well as generic vacuum hose to handle the suction duties.
