Sonys ES (Elevated Standard) series are some of the most beautiful electronics ever made in our opinion. Of these, one amplifer stands out. The TA-N77ES is a bit of an anomily as it also sounds better then any Sony amplifier weve ever heard. (A little know secret is Sony sold this design to Accuphase and it became the P-4100. It has half the power and costs 10x the price). This amplifier has one of the lowest THD ratings you may ever see. One thing we love about this amplifier is that it is purely analog. Pressing the power button you hear real speaker relays and then power relays. No microprocessors or any turn-on / off thumps. The base is a unique material called G-fiber. It aids in dampening vibrations. The rosewood sides are class ES and a nice touch, even if they are particle board and plastic. This amp features both fixed and variable inputs so you can run a source directly into the amp and has front panel gain controls or use it with a standard preamp. Oh....then there are those big, beautiful meters. Its worth owning this amp just for these alone! They were known for being extremely accurate. ??????? excellent sounding cd player. Sony packed this unit with the finest Nichicon Muse Capacitors in the audio circuit. this utilizes Sonys finest DAC at the time and is a wonderful sounding unit. i have just put on a new drawer belt, so this should last another 20yrs. i used a paper towel to wipe the face down. i didnt notice all the dust it left until i looked at the pics.
