Up for sale is a very nice Sony TC-WE605S Dual Cassette Deck. This was from the original owner who said he rarely used it and he hadnt used it for years. A quick examination clearly showed that this unit was seldom played. The heads showed virtually NO WEAR. This is a very versatile and high quality deck. The two independent motors allow for dubbing of one cassette to another. The unit comes with most all of the bells and whistles that you would expect from a quality tape deck from Sony that was produced at the end of the cassette era. This includes Automatic Music Search (AMS), Auto Record Level Adjustment (ARL), Dolby B,C and S, auto tape type detection, and auto fader, just to name a few. Cosmetically the unit has some minor scuffs on the top and one side. These can be seen in the pictures. The front is in excellent condition. Please look carefully at all pictures and judge the cosmetic condition for yourself as everyone has their own standards. When I tested this unit it was not working. This is a typical problem for old cassette tape decks that have sat for years unused. The rubber belts with drive the capstan wheels and the tape movement disintegrate and/or melt with age. I took this unit apart and sure enough the belts had turned into a sticky mess. I have cleaned all of the remnants of the old belts out and replace all of them with new belts. I also relied all of the mechanicals. Now everything works perfect and is ready for another 30 years of use! The sale includes a copy of the Owners Manual. This deck was well taken care of. As with all tape decks of this age all of the drive belts needed to be replaced.This was done in May 2023. I set this player up in my system and I found nothing wrong. The random music search works on both decks. The tape head reverse function works fine. This deck has more functions than I have ever used back in the day when Cassettes tapes were the norm. It has Dolby B-C-S NR HX PRO. I did not test the recording functions on this machine but from the condition and cleanliness of this unit it I cannot imagine there would be any issues. The face plate is in exceptional condition but there are some small surface scratches on the top and sides but nothing out of the ordinary for a tape deck of this age. This unit will be functional when you receive it. Due to its age I cannot guarantee how long any of the components in it will last.
