Sony TA-N7B Vfet power amplifier for parts or repair This is the legendary Sony TA-N7B Vfet power amplifier. It kind of works, it powers on, it produces sound, right channel likes to cut out, sometimes both, then I think to hear pretty heavy distortion, not all the time, sometimes hums like a growling bear…turned it on , turned it off, weak sound compared to a healthy TA-N86B, doesn’t matter which output (AUX 1 or 2) from Pre-Amp TA-E7B It once worked beautifully, then there was a lot of press about failing Vfets and you have to do this and you have to exchange that, that I didn’t play it for years for fear of damage. I bought this power amplifier off Ebay maybe 20 years ago. I also was not able to find a repair tech. Also, I moved from Brooklyn to Kingston NY and “Analogique” in NYC is ending his run this year? It is very difficult to move this amplifier, since it weighs approximately 45lbs. I am a photographer not a stereo repair tech. This amplifier is in basically good shape, for an age of approximately 50 years it has surprisingly few dings and scratches. The images are straight from the phone, no retouching, cropping yes. Ask me any questions. Please note, this amplifier is most probably 50 years old, therefore I cannot guarantee any function.
