I was using this gorgeous amplifier prior to selling. It decided to fail on the right channel. I put it in for repair and now functions and sounds excellent. All pots and switches thoroughly cleaned. The left VU meter does NOT work. (Quoted 46 for repair) Here is the description before it was delisted. Sony TA-E7B for auction. A truly beautiful over engineered amplifier with lots of knobs and switches with a beautiful feel to everything. The decals are engraved not tranfers adding to its class. Here goes an honest description. Ive been using it for the last 2 weeks and it is for sure a really nice piece of 70s Japanese engineering. The only feature untested is the MC section of phono. Some of the knobs have a slight crackle if you jiggle them but the crackle can disappear with another little wiggle. The left VU meter Does NOT function. Volume goes up and down nicely with zero crackle as do balance and bass and treble controls. An amplifier that wont need to much attention only TLC. I do not service or repair electronic equipment. In summary it has few tiny niggles that will need some attention so really its a spares or repair item. Its not perfect but really no big job to make it tip top. I havent opened up its belly so not viewed the electronics, it may need some parts upgrading. Capacitors etc. Listening to it Id say its had the necessary parts fitted over the years. It sounds wonderful and it will be another honest piece of kit I will regret selling. Sound quality is really rather astonishing. I have the top lid it was only opened for the pictures. Lid has a slight dent and minor surface scratches. Some TLC this beauty would look stunning and deliver super performance. I will be listening to it until it is sold. Allow 3-4 days before dispatch.
