Product Description Direct drive player system with SBMC and MagneDisc servo system The MagneDisc servo system, developed with the technology of Sony Magnescale, a manufacturer specializing in precision measuring instruments such as data recorders and acoustic records, is employed. The MagneDisc system magnetizes 512 wave signals over a wide area on the outer circumference of the turntable, and the signals are averaged and detected by an 8-tooth multi-gap head, enabling highly accurate and stable detection. Furthermore, the servo response range has been greatly expanded, resulting in improved servo effectiveness, good load characteristics and wow/flutter characteristics. A suction cup type insulation mat is used to adhere the record to the turntable and suppress resonance. This mat has a small hole in the center of the suction cup, and the viscous resistance of the air passing through this hole suppresses unwanted longitudinal vibration and damps resonance. This has the effect of improving localization because the longitudinal signal of record grooves is related to the stereo effect. In addition, modulation noise is removed and sound turbidity is reduced The cabinet and turntable are made of SBMC, a new material developed by Sony engineers. This material is a thermosetting reinforced resin made from a polyester resin base, calcium carbonate, and glass fiber, and has a shrinkage rate of 2-3/10,000, which is almost zero, and thus prevents distortion after shaping and enables high-precision processing. Independent pitch controls for each of the two Speeds (33 1/3 and 45 rpm) allow precise speed adjustment. Vintage Sony PS-4750 Direct Drive Turntable - Shure V15 Type lll cartridge. Made in Japan between 1979 &81. It’s just been serviced and PAT tested by a fully qualified ex BBC audio tech. He was really impressed with its build quality and superb tone. The design and construction of the turntable and platter contributes to the depth of tone, full bass and no tinny hissy tone. It’s in generally good condition, no lid, a bit of sticker residue from the last owner. Very rarely available in the UK. Thanks for liking.
