This unit weighs 4.14 lbs and comes from a product line of a Sony Book Shelf Stereo System . Get ready to enjoy your music collection with this classic piece of audio history. It is a mini-sized stereo Hi Fi Compact Disc Player. Selectable AC 110-120, or 220-240. This is one of Sonys early miniaturized CD players. Sold in 1989, Sony came out with the CDP S37 and the nearly identical CDP S207. The S37 was a mini-sized stereo hi-fi compact disc player. It featured a Dual D/A Converter System, 4 Times Oversampling Digital Filter, RCA phono Line Out sockets, System Control input connector, and a Jack for headphones with volume control. It measured 8.9 x 2.6 x 9.1. These early miniature Sony CD players created much competition from the various CD player companies to design, engineering, and competed against other miniature players such as the Yamaha CD X1, Toshiba XR-9458, Emerson CD 150A, Realistic CD 3000 amongst others. This miniature CD player competition led to the later wildly successful Sony portable Walkman series. The same inexpensive parts and layout were used for years. Sony is a master of using a design over and over again and just giving a little face lift to new models. These early players were revolutionary in the development of small portable players andare an interesting part of Sonys early miniaturization efforts. Most of these early, miniature CD players were discarded. Few are in as good as this in condition mint and fully operational. This one has not one scratch. See pictures and the video. These early mini-CD players are quite rare and hard to find. This is the only one on eBay at time of this listing. I am a collector of vintage high end CD players.
