Description
Here listed is a rare, 1993, Sony CDP 711E CD player that was primarily sold outside the US. A stereo, HiFi, single disc, compact disc player that sold in 1993-1994. It comes with hard to find original remote control (RM-D791). The back battery cover is cracked and has been repaired, please remove carefully with minimal lateral pressure toinsert batteries. It features a High Density Linear Converter, Direct Digital Sync. with RCA phono sockets for Fixed and Variable Line Out, a digital optical output connector and a jack for headphones with volume control. NB:*****The 711E is a superb sounding player. It sounds better than many of the expensive Sony ES models. It has the clarity and 3D imaging that very few CD players can match regardless of cost. It has Sonys ownCXD2565M DAC chip with a KSS-240A transport. Only a handful of CD players used the CXD2565M chip! These Sony CDPs with this chip were sold in the early 1990s received high praise from the audiophile community ... and continue to do so today. The resale value of Sony CDPs from 1991-1994 seem to hold up ... What they seem to have in common is Sonys own CXD2565M 1-bit (PLM) DAC chip. This was an DF+DAC device that was apparently an evolution from separate DF and DAC devices [CXD1244S, CXD2552]. In any case, these vintage 1-bit Sony DACs (or complementary DF chips) are very hard to find in CD players today! Only 9 CD players ever had the CXD2565M chip used in them, see below.***** MYRYAD MC100SONY CDP-211 SONY CDP-311 SONY CDP-411SONY CDP-415SONY CDP-461 SONY CDP-511 SONY CDP-711SONY CDP-M46 Some people have felt in online blogs that the 711E is superior to the 711 model which washighly regarded. It deserves to be used in very good systems! Per a review by DELRAY AUDIO: The E model might have an edge over the 711 in sound quality. We just can only gain so much with the parts Sony has chosen from the DAC to the outputon this build. We are reminded of the attention to detail. Most changes I see are in the filterdesign and can be a real game changer if designed correctly in a said circuit, and workingwith a 1-bit DAC. So without getting into a reverse engineering venture of the nice lookingbut mid-range deck, we can say that the E MODEL (UK ) will perform A little better andor sound a hair more refined in the overall sound department via the fixed RCA out jacks. What you will receive:1) Sony CDP 711E CD player in near mint condition, only a couple tiny scratches noted.2) Original remote RM-D791.3) A copy of the service manual.4) Numerous articles on the 711E. ***Please note, this is a UK CD player with a UK plug and will need a 220-110 power converterwhich can be purchased for a reasonable cost on Amazon.*** Specifications: Laser (KSS-240)Semiconductor laserWavelength780-790nmFrequency response2Hz - 20 kHz ± 0.5 dBSignal to noise ratioMore than 111 dBDynamic rangeMore than 98 dBHarmonic distortionLess than 0.0027%Channel separationMore than 105 dBOutputs LINE OUT(phono jacks)Output level 2 V (at 50 k?)Load impedance over 10 k?LINE OUT (VARIABLE)(phono jacks)Output level max. 2V (at 50 k?)Load impedance over 50 k?DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL)(optical output connector)Wave length 660 nmOutput level -18 dBmPHONES(Stereo phone jack)Output level max 10 mWLoad impedance 32 ?
