Here offered is a gorgeous, vintage 1983-1984 Sony CDP 111 CD player. This player was very popular and ended up being re-badged and sold later as CDP 400, CDP-501, 501ES, & 610ES. Hence it ended up being the first ELEVATED STANDARD CD PLAYER! SONY CDP-111 sold for ¥ 145,000 Japanese Yen (around 1983). OWNERS MANUAL & REMOTE INCLUDED! A second generation hi-fi stereo compact disc player housed in a silver metal case with remote control (RM-111). My uncle bought this CD player brand new when he was traveling in Japan, and sent it home as luggage (as written on the box - on Pan Am flight 22 to LAX, how cool). He always claimed he bought it and had it in the US before CDs were even available here. The serial number is seemingly very low - if Sony used a sequential system that fits the pattern I think it does, then this is serial number 7 (label says: 100007). The unit powers on and the buttons work, however the CD tray does stick sometimes and it ejects about 10 seconds after loading a disc, a red light blinks on the open/close button and then it ejects automatically. It’s a definite candidate for mechanical restoration, but I didn’t want to mess anything up by taking it apart, it’s just so close to mint looking. Physically and aesthetically the unit is in near flawless condition. It includes the original box which is also in great shape, and the original packing material (and the original “it’s a Sony” sticker is stuck onto the foam bag. The remote seems untouched, it’s wrapped in bubble wrap and taped up nicely so I didn’t want to open that up. Not sure if that’s original packing or not, but it seems like it. This is the “tourist model”, so it has the switchable power supply for global use, 240/220/120/110v 60/50hz. Offered here at no reserve, as-is condition. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
