Functionally this unit needs some service. I have had it on the bench and although the unit doe come on and will play Blu-Rays, DVDs and CDs, the unit will often display and INVALID DISC message and with not play the disc. This is not specific to at type of disc. A DVD disc may play one time and then not the next. Same for Blu-Rays and CDs. I am not a technician but my reading of online information seems to indicate that this is an issue with a failing laser. These are available online for about $65.
