Rarely available pair of Snell Type A speakers. Amazingly, these are one owner speakers!! My uncle, an avid audiophile, recently passed away in New York. I am in Chicago with no way to ship the speakers. He bought all of his equipment new, and it sat in his same non-smoking, pet-free apartment for decades. He drove these with Jadis JA-80 monoblocks and an a CAT SL1 preamp which are in my possession. I have every reason to believe these speakers work perfectly. However, his friend that is storing them temporarily does not own audio equipment to test them. Therefore, to preserve my excellent feedback history, they must be sold for parts only/non-functioning/as-is. Also, I am unable to provide any additional pictures. A very nice pair of Snell Type J IIs from the early-mid 80s. The cabinets are in fine shape with a small amount of typical wear... no major chips or dents, but minimal scratches and wear from regular use. See pics. I think the finish is Golden Oak, and the grills are the more rare brown variant... the badges are new reproductions. They are not perfect, but they are not abused. The original Seas woofers have been refoamed and the original, and mazing sounding, Tongen tweeters revarnished by Holt Hill Audio. They did a great job and the speakers sound lively and fresh. High end, high resolution audiophile speakers, each floor standing cabinet (left and right) consists of an upper midrange/trebel speaker system that sits atop the subwoofer system below. total dimensions of each speaker, including top and bottom cabinets is 13D, 24 wide, and 48 tall. These speakers are fully functional and sound great. However, if you further wanted to maintain the performance of the speakers in the future, you might consider re-coning the wofers in the lower units as i have been using (but never abusing) them for 10 years, hooked up to tube electronics. I would keep them but i just dont have room in my new living quarters which i am moving to for such large floorstanding speakers. They can create truly concert hall sound. Includes combining cables to hook between top and lower cabinets and internal crossover electronics. Without the interconnecting cables, The speakes can also be bi-amped. Cannot ship as i dont have transportation to take these speakers to greyhound and the cost of shipping these speakers is double the price i am asking, so LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. The are packed in cardboard boxes which are sufficient for local moves only. The cabinets are exotic brazilian forest wood with very few blemishes.
