It has been dismantled for cleaning and servicing, which included the replacement of both door and cassette belts, and a rebuild of both associated mechanisms. It was then rebuilt in the style of the B&O 75th anniversary special edition which came only a couple of months after the manufacture of this system, with black (instead of dark grey) fabric covers, and an aluminium CD clamper (instead of plastic); the 75th anniversary also marked a change of CD mechanism to the Philips CDM-12, which has ultimately proven much less reliable than the earlier CDM-4 which remains installed in this example. Cosmetically, it has clearly been cared for throughout its life, and marks are largely confined to the rear cabinet where it has been moved on and off a wall. There are very light cleaning marks to some of the gloss and transparent plastic finishes across the set, and a set of light scratches to the clamper when seen in the right light, but otherwise very little of note: the glass is not not chipped or scratched, the frets have no bobbling or holes, and accessories, including the remote, are also in excellent condition.
