Signet TK1Ea Cartridge with Original Signet TKN1Ea .4 x .7 Mil Elliptical Stylus - A This listing is for one used Signet TK1Ea cartridge. The cartridge was “checked” with an Ohmmeter & the results are posted in two of the photos. The readings are very close & have a difference of less than 1.6%. The included stylus is a used, genuine Signet TKN1Ea. The stylus has a .4 x .7 mil elliptical tip & the tracking force is 1 ~ 2 grams. It is in very good condition, with plenty of hours left. Also included is the shown set of mounting hardware. Since the cartridge was “checked” with an Ohmmeter & this combination has been visually checked, there are NO returns or refunds. All of the cartridge/stylus combinations I sell are sold AS IS - in working condition. I do not offer ANY type of refund, exchange, or return on these cartridge/stylus combinations. If you have an issue with sibilance, it probably means that the cartridge/stylus is not a good match for your tonearm. Not that there is anything defective with this cartridge or stylus. Note: The cantilever (the thin silver tube which the stylus tip is mounted to) is the fragile part of the stylus assembly. The stylus needs to be handled carefully. If the buyer breaks or bends the cantilever when un-packaging, inserting the stylus assembly into the cartridge, or handling the cartridge once the stylus is mounted, I will not be held responsible. This includes while mounting the cartridge to your headshell. It is best to mount your cartridge somewhat loosely first. Then install the stylus. Once the stylus is mounted into the cartridge, adjust the cartridge for the correct overhang for your particular turntable. If you are unfamiliar or inexperienced with installing, mounting, & adjusting cartridges/styli, please have an experienced professional do the installation for you. AUDIO TECHNICA SIGNET TK7E CARTRIDGE AND TKN15 TITANIUM RARE NUDE SHIBATA STYLUS This auction is for one of the top-of-the-line moving magnet cartridges of all time. Handmade by Signet, the upper echelon division of Audio Technica. This one has the upgraded Number 15 stylus, one of many available back in 1977 from the AT dealers. Stylus 15 is a Titanium Cantilever with a Miniature Nude Square Shibata cut diamond. I have included some microscope photos of the diamond, and as you can see it is sharp and has a lot of life in it. As you can see in the video this stylus tracks exactly as it should and even tracked a record with a bit of warp with no problem. I installed it on my Thorens TP50 tonearm and played a few records. It did not disappoint; the sound is full and rich, and the cartridge tracks very nicely at the midway of the recommended weight range, 1.25 grams. A side note on this cartridge. I had read that the Audio Technica ATN12S stylus was a fit for this and I can confirm that. I had an OEM AT12S in the drawer and it slid on and worked very nicely. So this cartridge is in no way a dead end as far as stylus options. AT OEM, Jico and other aftermarket sellers give you several options for the future.
