For those of you who dont know the history of the Shure phono cartridges, the Shure V15LT was the P-mount equivalent of the very famous Shure V15 Type III phono cartridge, one of, if not the finest magnetic cartridge ever made! This Shure V15LT is the very same cartridge and stylus in a T4P compliant construction. As magnetic cartridges go, this is the finest cartridge every made that you can use in a Technics SL-15, SL-10, SL-7 or other P-mount cartridge turntable arm. I am the original owner of this Shure P-mount (T4P compliant) cartridge, purchasing it from Hi-Fi Buys in Atlanta in mid-80s, when Technics Linear-Tracking turntables were all the rage (and still great!). I used it in my Technics SL-7 linear tracking turntable to perform needle-drops in making cassette tapes. Back in the day, thats what we did: bought an album, put it on the turntable, hooked up the cassette deck and recorded the album. After that, the album went into long-term storage to keep the grooves from wearing down. Meanwhile, you listened to the album via the newly recorded cassette tape. If you had a good deck, the tape quality was as good as the album. Since albums seem to be making a bit of a comeback, Ive used it recently to listen to several new albums with my Phono Preamp, my T4 headphone amplifier, and Sennheiser HD800s. I can definitely state that the stylus is still in great condition. Just an FYI, but this cartridge is better than many moving-coil cartridges Ive heard. The problem with MM cartridges is that you need a phono preamp with a whopping amount of gain. Trouble is, unless you invest in some very expensive step-up transformers, you will hear the noise from that gain with MM cartridges. Thats why great magnetic cartridges are still worthy for world-class audiophile listening.

I’m helping my Dad adopt out some of the stuff he has collected over the many decades. He was very much into records when he was younger. Here is a very cool SHURE stylus with drop down needle guard in the simulated blackwood display box. I’m not an expert but have taken many clear photos so please review them for condition. I wouldnt have any idea how to even test it so, it is untested. However, it looks to me to have never been used. Everything seems to be there. The original box, the info sheet, the stylus and needle with the moulded plastic form to protect the cartridge. This has been sitting in a drawer for decades.
