NOTE: The shrink wrap on the end with the bar code is partially split but not enough to open the end of the box, so I can tell its never been opened. See photo.

This is a Realistic branded R47XT cartridge which was the electrical equivalent to a Shure M95/M97. The R47XT originally came with a .4x.7 elliptical stylus. However, this has an upgraded NDC-ED .2x.7 stylus. This stylus originally was for the Shure Designer Series cartridge, however this stylus fits the R47XTs mount perfectly. The majority of Shure styli dont fit as the plastic grip is too large. This stylus tracks from .75 to 1.5 grams. It has been inspected with a Shure SEK-2 microscope and is showing light wear. These pictures were taken through the eye piece with my 8 year old iphone se so the pictures show a little more light flare than what is actually visible. This is a great cart for someone wanting the warmer sound profile of the no longer made Shure cartridges rather than the tipped up top end that most of todays moving magnet carts have.

I have a few and they are one of my favorite Shure carts. This one multimeter tests at a very strong 1546/1543 ohms per channel and is mounted on a nice Japanese made TECHNICS SL-1200 headshell with original lead wires. The NOS N97ED stylus is a 0.2x0.7 elliptical tip with 1 hours use on professional turntables and pristine records for testing purposes. Designed to track at 3/4-1.5 grams and completely plug and play on a properly balanced tonearm. Optimum at 1.25 grams with VTF set at 1.75 grams with brush engaged. Now for the business.
