Magnavox MX Series record changer in a wood materials base. The MX line of stereo equipment was Magnavoxs short-lived attempt (as I saw it) to enter the field of high performance home audio. This was purchased in the 70s while I employed at a long-gone local Magnavox dealership. This turntable/changer qualifies as rare (in some sense) though it was based on a common but quality changer mechanism. This turntable/changer doesnt qualify as one of the extreme high-end units but it isnt junk either. Modern cheap combinations all in ones do not qualify. It doesnt have the fine tune speed adjustment. Over the years of employment at this business dozens of these changers were cleaned up and restored to decent running condition. Magnetic cartridge was upgraded from a Shure M75 series to the Shure V15 Type III. The original needle was damaged and replaced with a third-party needle. Current needle should be replaced also. No warranty as to the condition of the cartridge or needle. M75B and needle was salvaged from another MX changer and is included. Again, no warranty as to condition. Magnetic cartridges require a receiver/amplifier with proper inputs. Some repairs were needed to get basic functionality as follows: Drive motor disassemble clean and reoil; idler wheel support pivot disassemble reoil; idler wheel bushing clean, reoil. Platter bearing clean and relube. Large gear wheel, which meshes with plastic roller was removed, cleaned, relubed, reassemble. The environment where stored was not ideal: summertime humidity excessive. There was some light corrosion was noted which was cleaned up. This has some smell of dampness, though diminished since being removed from that environment. Zusammenfassung: - äußerst ruhiges Laufwerk als Quartz-Direktantrieb - spezielle Dämpfung der Tormresonanzen - Abtastsystem SHURE M75B - Halb-Automatik - dicke Auflagematte Maße (BxTxH): 42,0 x 36,5 (ohne Scharniere) x 11,8cm Gewicht: ca. 5,1Kg Das Gerät ist sehr gepflegt. Als langjähriger Sammler weiss ich, worauf es ankommt. Alle Funktionen und Einstellungen sind überprüft und in optimalem Zustand. Ebenso die Scharniere der Haube. Optisch hat der Plattenspieler relativ geringe Gebrauchs-/Altersspuren. Auch die Haube ist noch recht gut erhalten. Der Plattenspieler ist meines Erachtens für das Wohnzimmer bzw. auch als Geschenk geeignet. Lieferumfang: PIONEER PL-640 mit SHURE M75B und Single-Adapter.
