I’ve plugged it in and the unit powers up and there’s an encouraging whirring noise which I assume is the capstan spinning. No further tests done. Apparently the unit was working when it was stored in a cupboard many years ago. Case is rather dusty but overall in decent condition. It’s gutbustingly heavy hence shipping price. Sorry about that!
