Sharp GF-8585 Radio Cassette Recorder. A lovely example of a vintage Sharp Radio Cassette Recorder. Made in Japan. It has been serviced, and in extremely clean condition. It has just had a new belts fitted. Additionally, the head, capstan, pinch roller and pulleys & idlers have been cleaned. The switches have been cleaned and lubricated, and the aluminium & plastic casings have been hygienically deep cleaned and polished. All cassette functions perform correctly. The transport controls move freely. The eject mechanism works perfectly, and the APLD functions correctly. The radio is very clear, and the aerial is original, fully intact and not corroded. The LW, MW and SW do pick up only a very few stations (if there are many even left), but the FM is superb - very clear, responsive, and the FM Stereo light/signal strength needle work nicely. The handle and its chrome ends are in super condition. This unit has built in stereo microphones, plus external stereo mic inputs, a headphone socket and stereo external speaker outs to really provide some clout. There is also a DIN socket for versatile integration with other systems. Ground, Left and Right RCA Connectors for Phono/Turntable. The battery cover is present and snaps in reassuringly. It has been stripped, hygienically deep cleaned and polished as part of the service. The unit is in excellent condition for its age with all original knobs, switches etc present and in working order. She is over 40 years old, so please remember that you are not buying a new unit - there are of course some minor signs of wear associated with decades of enjoyment! Pretty nice condition I think. Rubber belts on tape player have been replaced and all functions work good, except for the rewind. Small cog the engages the rewind was cracked and had a large bit missing, so I removed it completely. Therefore, it doesnt rewind. Last 2 photos show the broken rewind cog before I removed it completely. You can order new cogs, but to be honest, I didnt want to bother. But certainly something a new owner could do. Fast Forward and Play work correctly. Radio good. Speakers sound good. Its a nice machine but no rewind function. Please see photos for condition and whats included.
