I placed it between my laptop and active speakers (Kanto YU4), and I immediately loved it. Its a better DAC than most integrated DACs inside receivers and active speakers. So why am I parting with it? I became tempted by a better DAC, the Topping E70 Velvet. Silly, yes, as the Topping is only marginally better. But in this contest the Topping win, and now I must sell the MODO+ to another audiophile. This is a great first DAC. Someone who streams music using a desktop or laptop could really use this. This is the MODI+, not the MODI 3. This unit is just the Schiit box. There are no cables included. You will need a USB C cable to power it on. For most users, the cable from a laptop or USB hub is all one needs to get a digital audio signal and the 5 watts of power to the unit. This unit excels at processing 44.1 and 48kHz audio signals from a computer, streaming box or CD player. If you use a streaming service, it is best you are subscribed to a lossless (CD quality) service. I recommend Deezer, Qobuz and Tidal. To connect this DAC to an amplfier or active speakers, you will need analog RCA cables. Any good cables will do, but I recommend Hart Audio Cables (https://www.hartaudiocables.com). They make high quality cables that are worth showing off. They even have dozens of fabric casings to choose from for a custom color and/or pattern.
