Then I brought it to the garage and promptly forgot about it. I took it out of the garage this week to list it for sale. To test the unit for sale, I purchased and popped in a dual-layer SACD. Unfortunately, the player would only recognize the CD layer. (CD layer sounded great, for what it is worth). After searching the internet for a couple minutes, it looks like this is a common issue, which can potentially be resolved by some combination of cleaning, realigning, or replacing the SACD laser. No idea, and dont quote me on that. If I was handy, I would try to fix it myself, but Im not. It played single layer SACDs just fine last time I tried one, several years ago, but I dont have one on hand to test, because (as I mentioned) I gave away my SACDs and CDs years ago. I forgot to test the remote before I taped up the box, but I have the original remote, and it worked just fine last time I used it. Also, there is a film or deterioration or corrosion or something on the outside of the player. I have no idea what this is or how easy it would be to clean. Wir bieten hier den legendren SCD-XA777ES von Sony aus den Jahren 2001-2003 an. Player hat einige wenige Gebrauchspuren (immerhin ist der Player ber 20 Jahre alt), befindet sich sonst in einem tadellosen Zustand. Technisch einwandfrei, bei einigen Hybrid-Discs las er jedoch erst nach mehreren Versuchen die SACD-Spur. Technische Daten sollten bekannt sein fr diejenigen, welche dieses Gert suchen. On one hand, I love the bloomy midrange detailing and spacious soundstaging with the Alpha in the signal chain; on the other, the CL-20s bass extension, velvety top end, airy transparency, and pinpoint resolution are things of beauty.However, when I used the Sony to control the Alphas output (CDs only, of course, the player muting its digital output when playing SACDs) I seemed to achieve the best of both worlds—the Alphas richness and the CL-20s precision—and something more: the intoxicating sense of liquidity and extra degree of holography that the Alpha has in spades with the Delta or CL-20 transports, but that was so much more dimensional with the Sony transport. With the SCD-777ES, there was a more pronounced sense of space.But the CL-20s D/A still trumped the Alpha in bass extension, and by itself had a more analog sound signature than the Sony (using its own D/A section).
