On the Topping DX7 Pro+, you need high gain and around 70-75% volume to push the Hifiman Edition XS to adequate levels. On the SMSL M500 MKIII, you need high gain, and around 80% volume to push the Hifiman Edition XS to adequate levels. On this Sabaj, you need high gain, and only around 35% volume to reach the same level as the other two. This device has a surprisingly powerful amp under the hood. This DAC/AMP is a lot more powerful than it seems, based only on specs. I run a pair of Hifiman Edition XS, which are known to be very hard to drive. Previously, I used to have the SMSL M500 MK3, which goes for $530 bucks. In order to reach decent volume with the M500, I had to use high gain and crank the volume up to around 70-80% The M500 could not reach an appropriate volume in low gain at all. In comparison, this Sabaj A20D can reach appropriate volume at 70% (low gain), and around 40-45% in high gain, so it has plenty of power left for most headphones out there. For the price, this device cannot be beat. The measurements (look up audiosciencereview measurements for this) are excellent.
