Please note I have not tested the recording function on tapes while playing the radio but on balance I can see no obvious reason why it shouldnt. The radio works well on all bands. It is mains powered or battery D cells, plus 2x AA batteries for the memory. The mains supply is just a removable plug in the rear of the set and a standard 13amp plug.
