Description
This is my personal bought directly from Yamaha as a refurbished unit. Its powerful and functions exceptionally well in a 7.1 environ. Ive been very pleased with the Aventage series, but frankly, no Yamaha AV has ever been a disappointment. Having the ability to fine tune the audio to a specific room with YPAO makes a noticeable difference. Its Burr-Brown DAC is highly rated by audiophiles. It upscales video to 4k. Has tons of great features some of which Ive not used. After combining households, this RX-A780 has spent too much time in its OEM box and is ready for a new home. It comes with everything except the original documentation (available online). If youre a phile, this description will bore you, but for those looking to step up without having to spend serious bucks, the RX-A780 is a great choice. What impressed me most, was how it reproduced two movies - The Dark Knight and Avatar. One Dark Knight scene was exceptional - blowing the hospital. The rears even came through with some oomph - truly mind-blowing audio! The Transformers series as well as Fast and Furious were also well done but lacked the channel separation/detail of the other two. Keep in mind, the source is a BlueRay device, and not some stream. Engage with confidence. It is packaged in its OEM box from Yamaha and has had minimal use. The 3 blems (see pics) are why it was sold as a refurb. Overall, a very impressive box that supports phono input. Lastly, check out the Yamaha site for more detail - a snippet is shown below. NOTE: The RX-A780 has labels showing compliance with HDCP 2.2 however, a firmware upgrade improved that standard to HDCP 2.3 as well as support for eARC functionality. Please visit the Yamaha site for specifics. I believe the installed firmware version is current at 2.14. The manufacturers warranty has expired. Engineered for Performance.
