The turns ratio of the MCX is 1:10, making it compatible with cartridges with outputs of up to 0.9mV, which includes models from Benz Micro, Clearaudio, Koetsu, Lyra and Van den Hul. These attenuators have become surplus to requirements, I previously used them with my Leak valve amplifiers (Stereo 20 and TL12+s) which were super sensitive to high inputs, so much so that without them I could barely get the volume control beyond 9 oclock. They reduce the input by about 10db and they work like a dream! Now Ive moved on to more modern amplification they are no longer necessary, and so I am putting them up for auction. This is from Rothwell themselves for your information In-line attenuators reduces signal level to improve control of volume at low levels. They can improve signal to noise ratio in pre/power amps. The standard attenuators are designed to be used on the input sockets of pre-amps, power amps or integrated amps rather than the output sockets of source equipment such as CD players. The level of attenuation that Rothwell recommend for the vast majority of applications is -10dB. They also offer -15dB and -20dB attenuators where a greater level of attenuation is required. 15dB is useful when a system has even more excess gain than usual. 20dB is recommended when a lot of attenuation is not usually required. 10dB is the right choice in about 80% of cases, in our experience. The price is for a pair of RCA -10dB format attenuators. I am putting these on offer at £15 with no reserve in the hope of getting rid of them without fuss, so grab yourself a bargain.....
