Up for sale is a wonderful Rothwell step up transformer (SUT) for moving coil cartridges. It is a passive device that goes between a turntable and a moving magnet preamp (either the internal MM preamp built into your amplifier or an external MM). According to the Rothwell website: “The MCL is suitable for low output moving coil cartridges with outputs in the range 0.2mV - 0.7mV (at 1kHz, 5cm/sec), and internal impedances below 20 ohms.” The MCL boosts the signal of a low output MC cartridge without requiring any external power, so it does not introduce any noise into the chain between turntable and amplifier. Because it does not rely on voltage to work, it can be used in any system anywhere in the world. All Rothwell items are handmade in the UK by Andrew Rothwell and are of the highest quality. The sound of the MCL is excellent. I may have used this for a single weekend before putting it away.
