Rotel RDA-980 AC-3 processor/demodulator. This unit is primarily used to demodulate an AC-3 audio signal from laserdisc players, then output that signal to a receiver for 5.1 surround sound. Typically, this unit would output that sound via 6 discrete audio cables. This unit was modified to output sound directly to a receiver of TOSLINK or SPDIF out. This removes the issue of audio lag between the receiver and television. Unit was looked over while I had it open installing the mod and everything looked to be in great shape. Shell was lightly sanded and a textured coat of paint was added to remove all scratches. One extra feature about this unit is that you can use it as a switcher, inputting optical, digital coax and AC-3 and you can use the Rotel to switch between the 3 inputs with only one output to your receiver needed!
