You are bidding on British design classic - a pair of Rogers LS3/5A loudspeakers I have it confirmed by 2 hi-fi collectors, that the speakers are Rogers LS3/5As - 11 Ohms version These were purchased recently from a BBC Archive dept. auction. The only images I could find of any LS3/5as with XLR inputs on the rear were manufactured by ROGERS. Obviously, coming with XLR inputs only, these were used for studio use. There were a few other pairs of ROGERS LS3/5As sold in the same auction at the same . The cabinets have been painted a nice shade of blue - probably to match the decor in whatever BBC studio/suite they were in. The makers labels were probably removed at that time for painting. The speaker have some sequential BBC stickers, 2622 and 2623 on the bottom LH fronts and PROPERTY OF PRESERVATION SERVICES stickers on the sides. All in all, a nice honest set of LS3/5as, with provenance back to the BBC.the last 2 images show the speakers in the auction amongst the other speakers. Only the blue LS3/5As are for sale in this listing. The cabinets look to have been professionally paint or maybe even supplied in this colour by the manufacturer. They still have the woodgrain shown and could be computer scanned to be colour matched or stripped back to the original veneer or repainted to a colour of your choice. These are my BBC-licensed Rogers LS3/5A 15 Ohm loudspeakers which I have owned since new in 1988. They are in perfect working order and in near mint condtion, with no scratches and no dinged corners. On the base panels there are small pin-pricks from stand mount spikes. The loudspeakers are a matched pair with serial numbers 032482A and 032482B. They will be shipped in their original box, along with the original packing materials, instruction manual and product brochure, all enclosed in a protective outer container. The speakers are listed at a modest price, because:I am a private seller.I do not accept returns. I am not an engineer and I cannot certify that the speakers would still conform to the original BBC specifications (although the speakers sound as good as ever to my old ears).

All drivers are original and in excellent condition. I opened one speaker and show the internal parts. As shown in some posted pictures, they are all original. Date of production is January 9, 1980, as shown on the cabinet. I have many other pictures if you are interested. I was not able to open the other speaker and I didnt want to force open it. These two are matched pair (A and B). As shown one of the speaker biding posts got some repair. I guarantee these are genuine, vintage Rogers. Serial numbers are SO 109xxA and 109xxB. I covered the last two digits in the serial numbers on pictures (not on the speakers). The speakers work great, produce wonderful music as one expects. Physical condition of the cabinets is excellent for the age. One of the woofers has a small blemish on the surround (see picture). I inspected and determined there is no through hole. So, it does not affect the performance. Grills are great; no issues. I believe the original foam surrounding tweeters have deteriorated and the ones here are replacement. Thats my guess though. I have another pair of these Rogers LS3/5A (a bit later but still the same black badge). Ill pack well and ship worldwide.
