Its sleek appearance might deceive you at first glance, but delve deeper, and you’ll discover a world of meticulous engineering. The plinth of the RP8 is where the attention to detail begins. The central core of the plinth is crafted from light, closed cell polyolefin foam. Phenolic resin skins are added to both the top and bottom surfaces, enhancing rigidity and damping. As a result, this plinth weighs seven times less than the original Planer 3 plinth while maintaining exceptional stiffness. The skeletal design of the plinth further contributes to its rigidity, ensuring that vibrations are kept at bay. Rega didn’t stop at the plinth. They’ve strategically placed two braces—one made of magnesium and the other of phenolic—between the arm base and the main bearing. These dual materials dampen each other’s resonances, resulting in an incredibly light, stiff, and well-behaved structure. The RP8’s compact size adds to its rigidity, emphasizing the theme of lightweight performance. The RP8 delivers a massively detailed sound with class-leading agility. Here is my immaculate Rega RP8 turntable fitted with the superb RB800 tone arm and a virtually brand new Hana SL MC cartridge. As you can see from the images the whole set up is immaculate and I also have the original Rega packaging for transporting it. That said I would prefer collection but I will post at the buyers risk but I will ensure if shipped it will be as safe as possible. The turntable comes with the separate PSU and I can negotiate to the winning bidder the Rega MC amplifier if they wish to purchase it but it is NOT supplied as part of this listing. This is purely a UK auction too, I will not ship outside the UK or by the eBay shipping programme as it’s too delicate to risk, hence why I’d like collection only. Shipping in the UK will be fully insured to the full value too, so please ignore the eBay compensation pricing.
