Here we have for sale the original Rega Planet MK1 CD Player & Rega MIRA Amplifier with Remote, in a lovely clean and fully working condition having been serviced prior to sale. Both show minimal signs for previous use with just the odd light marks and scratches as expected with any used item. The CD lens has been physically cleaned, and the amps pots have all be cleaned with contact cleaner. A great retro setup that sounds absolutely outstanding! The renowned Rega Planet MK1 CD Player is considered by many to be one of the best CD Players that Rega ever created, even more so than its newer counterparts.... Includes the original Solar remote controller which controls both the Amp and CD Player, fitted power leads, and 1 x RCA cable to connect the CD Player to the amplifier. Since 1990, I have enjoyed collecting and restoring antique radios and vintage audio.... all items I list will be exactly as described and packed extra well to ensure a safe delivery.. buy with confidence !Ask any and all questions BEFORE buying!I selected USED for Item Condition, since this Mira 1 amp has only 1 minor flaw... the ungrounded CD input jacks. Other than the CD input jacks issue (for which I suggest an easy work-around solution) the amp functions great (read description). If this is of any concern, DO NOT BUY !Very nice 1st version Mira integrated amp... made in the UK in 1999. Made for USA, standard 117V power. The Mira amp is power rated at 61 watts/ch RMS into 8 ohms or 91 watts/ch RMS into 4 ohms. Amp has 1 pair of main speaker outputs, with 5-way binding posts for using either banana plugs, lugs, spades, pins or raw speaker wire. Notice that Rega focused its component design more on the basics (build quality, super clean stereo output, specs) and not so much on extra features found in many other integrated amps like Balance and Tone controls (Treble and Bass). If new owner really wanted more detailed tone control, a simple solution would be to connect an Equalizer to the Tape input jacks. Since most equalizers have a set of jacks for connecting a Tape Player, and a switch for engaging the tape deck... the buyer could keep a tape deck source in addition to adding more detailed frequency control via the Equalizer! Amp fully tested and all functions (other than CD jacks) work as they should... sound performance is excellent. Unit in super clean cosmetic shape, and comes from a smoke-free/pet-free home!Over 23 years of use, the frequent attaching and detaching of CD connection cables must have worked the CD jacks enough that they eventually created whats called a cold solder joint, where they are attached to the main circuit board. So, when trying to use these ungrounded CD input jacks, the amp produces a light background buzz. I opened the case and was going to attempt to resolder the CD jacks (a simple fix), BUT... I could not find a way to fully disconnect and flip over the main circuit board to get access to the back side side of the board without risking damage to the board. I decided it would be wiser to simply use one of the 2, Aux input jacks for connecting a CD Player. The amp has input jacks for Disc/Phono (any turntable with a MM cartridge), CD, Tuner (Radio), Aux1, Aux 2 and Tape. Other than the input jacks for Disc/Phono, all the other inputs are interchangeable and can be used for any line-level source like a cd player, dvd player, tuner, tape player, TV, phone audio (with correct cable adapter). All other inputs/jacks other than CD are clean and quiet, and only produce the sound source signal with no unwanted buzz. Unless buyer decides to have the CD input jacks repaired, they should consider the CD inputs as broken/unusable. If this is a serious issue for you, please DO NOT BUY !Notice that this Mira amp has Preamp Out and Power Amp In jacks on rear panel... but there are no jumpers installed across the 2, as you might normally see. Thats because there is a small DIP switch inside the case, right behind those jacks, and when the switch is clicked ON, it serves as jumpers and joins the systems preamp stage to its power amp stage, thus no external jumpers are necessary. This is discussed in detail in the Owners Manual, which I will try to provide a copy to the buyer after purchase. The amp does not have its optional remote control but everything can be controlled from the front panel. The AC cord had 1 very small scrape, and I noticed just a little of the raw wire exposed so I mended cord with a piece of electrical tape to keep safe... hardly noticeable.I have a pdf copy of the Mira 1 Owners Manual, and if wanted... I can try to send a copy to the buyer, as a .pdf attachment to an email. BUYER is responsible for doing their own research to ensure they are buying the correct component for their stereo system or DIY project.
