Pioneer SX-1980 stereo receiver. This one is a true survivor ! Mint physical condition in its original double box with all packing materials. No manual, sorry. Apparently this receiver didnt get much run time before its infamous power supply gave up (and the unit was put back into its box for a better moment)... Because : -All the lamps are working original and crystal clear with no burns or browned out areas around them -Dial illumination lamps have original turquoise tint to them.-Power supply board has only slight burn marks on it-Face-plate, knobs and the wooden case are almost flawless The receiver is now ready for its second life. After : - Power supply, Power amp, Phono and all pre-Amp boards got restored. With all electrolytic and tantalum capacitors replaced. Some known potentially noise or failure prone small transistors in signal path replaced too. ( The only boards kept untouched are AM/FM boards.) Main filter caps are also original - tested with ESR meter and presented very close to nominal values! These big cans rarely ever show failure unless abused with malfunctioning power amp section. Special attention was given to power supply board :- All capacitors are 105C parts.- most small semiconductors were replaced with higher rating modern equivalents - Current source modules were implemented to replace the easy failing original FETs and their protection parts. - To reduce heat stress to the board two power regulators (+80,-80V) were moved to main heat sinks (one on each side) - All push button and rotary controls are treated with Deoxit / Faderlube . - BIAS and DC offset trim pots are set to service manual specs. - FM re-aligned. Quartz lock and micro-tune touch sensitive feature work great. - Only high quality replacement parts were used : Low impedance 105C electrolytic caps (Nichicon, Panasonic, Chemi-con), Film caps WIMA, etc. Transistors are ONsemi Additional box will be used to protect the original Pioneer packaging Track Page Views With Auctivas Counter
