Up for auction are a matched pair of the Quicksilver 60-watt mono block8417 tube amplifiers. The have sequential serial numbers displayed from the manufacturer (1739, 1740). The amps are in magnificent condition, and I have enjoyed them, trouble free in my system since my Audiogon purchase of them in 2003 from the original owner. The output tubes are 8417’s and I have never changed them. They are biased to 110 milliamps, warm.The pictures speak for themselves. They are beautifully built and are characterized by the typical tube comments – luscious mids, sweet extended highs, detail and timbral accuracy. All of this is quite true, as I have focused my own listening on chamber orchestral and choral music, solo piano and voice and symphonic recordings. They are amazing in their musical rendering of the classical audiophile LP recordings from RCA, Mercury and Chesky labels. The output of each amp is identical.I am downsizing my system, hence the sale. I have the original cartons which are double box in design (please look at all photos). The sale includes the bias meter, original instructions, and separate biasing instructions (very easy to do), an extra used set of 4 8417 output tubes as well as a pair of Sylvania 6x4 tubes. These extra tubes were included in my purchase of the Quicksilvers. I have never used them.The amps are heavy. For the asking price, I will split the shipping costs to your zip code, only if sold in the US.
