QUAD II valve amplifier #16833 circa 1958. Untested, so I can’t say whether it works or not . I have noted GE66 rather than KT66 output valves. Please also see internal photo. NB. no cables .

Classic Quad 33 preamplifier with power and output cable. Tested for power and basic function. Plug in to tape input and played fine without any audible distortion or scratching with the controls. Power indicator lamp is working. The internals look clean, complete, and free of corrosion. The service history is unknown so could likely benefit from service. It has been switched to 120V for use in the US (may be switched back to 220V if required) Aesthetically, the preamp is imperfect. It looks like the face was repainted with a matching paint at some point, but there are flaws to the surface with some spots wearing through the paint. Im including a new volume knob to replace the worn original one. None of the visual flaws affects the functionality.

Here we have a late Quad 33 Control unit pre-amplifier in superb condition, and full working order. The unit has just been fully serviced by me (qualified electronic engineer).Power supply electrolytic capacitors replaced.Amplifier and phono pre-amplifier board electrolytics replaced with Nichicon FW audio grade.Balance capacitors replaced with Nichicon FWNew suppressorSwitches and potentiometers cleaned.Fully tested and sounds amazing.Please see the photographs as they form part of the description.There are a couple of very minor marks on the case sleeve.s/n 96042 (1978/9). The QX-949 is Pioneers ultimate four channel FM/MW stereo receiver, featuring all present quadraphonic systems, CD-4, SQ and regular matrix.The unique power boosting circuit converts the large 4-channel power output to even greater 2-channel power.Other features include 3 pairs of tape terminals, 4 pairs of speaker systems, 2 pairs of phono terminals, high and low filters and a Dolby NR adapter switch.The Pioneer QX-949 is one of Pioneer’s larger quadraphonic receivers and was top of the line when it was introduced in 1974. This was mainly due to the fact that it had essentially all the available decoding built in to it. It has a built in CD-4 demodulator as well as regular matrix and SQ matrix. So there was no need for the audio enthusiast to have to buy a separate demodulator or decoder. The QX-949 puts out a pretty decent 40 watts per channel into 4 channels and 60 watts into 2 channels. It also has a plethora of inputs and outputs and can handle 4 pair of speakers including two pair in the back and two in the front. It has inputs fro three tape decks, two turntables as well as another auxiliary source. The tuner section featured a 4-gang variable capacitor and phase linear ceramic filters that gave it great sensitivity and selectivity.
