Sweet sounding preamp from PS Audio. Some traits are smooth sounding with good details. Leans more to analog sound. I do not want to say that it performs at the same level of devices that cost ten times higher, but it is faithful to its design and if inserted in a correct chain at its level, also from the price point of view, the enjoyment is guaranteed and will never envies systems that are more expensive. Taken by Gain Cell and sound, I forgot to say that the manufacture is good, minimal but with all the necessary. The dimensions are 8.5 x 8.5 x14.75 (WxHxD) and the weight is12,12 lb. There are three RCA unbalanced inputs, one XLR balanced output and one RCA unbalanced output that can operate at the same time, for bi-amping or for a subwoofer. There is no ON/OFF button, only on the remote control. On the front panel are a small volume switch and a button to select the line-level inputs, whose blue led lights match with the gray-silver colour of the front panel. Below the four feet are very small, minimalist like the remote control, I suggest to change them with something better. Look for it, maybe to improve an integrated amplifier of average value provided with the split preamp-power stage. Look for it to assemble a minimal system as to the cost, but not as to the sound. Look for it, also second-hand, and you will have a jewel at a discount price. Yes, I know, there are other tempting brands but, sometimes, if badly matched or badly designed – it happens – they do not perform as they could and/or would. PS Audio Trio P200 Preamplificatore | Gain Cell Technology La sua caratteristica di spicco è quella di essere dotato di un controllo di volume che non è, come nel novanta per cento almeno degli apparecchi conosciuti, un attenuatore di qualche tipo per regolare appunto il volume, col risultato di deteriorare il segnale in ingresso con perdite di dinamica e dettaglio. PS Audio usa quella che chiama Gain Cell, si tratta di un particolare stadio di amplificazione in tensione a guadagno variabile, il che significa che non si attenua il segnale per variare il volume. Secondo l’azienda questa è l’approssimazione più vicina dello stadio di guadagno perfetto e secondo i progettisti, è “il progresso più rivoluzionario nell’audio analogico da quando PS Audio è stata fondata”. I dettagli di progetto e funzionamento sono tenuti intenzionalmente nascosti alla concorrenza e le informazioni rese pubbliche sono che si tratta di un disegno completamente equilibrato avente guadagno regolabile da -100 dB a +30 dB, risoluzione di fase di 0.001 dB, rumore inferiore a -100 dB, risposta in frequenza 1 Hz-50 KHz, THD <0.005%, impedenza di ingresso di 47 kohm e impedenza di uscita di 100 ohm, 0.1 dB di corrispondenza tra i canali. Tutte queste caratteristiche si ripercuotono sul suono di questo preamplificatore. La timbrica è corretta, vengono riprodotti fedelmente lo strumento e le sue armoniche e sono molto belle anche le voci, sia maschili che femminili. La dinamica è ottima, c’è il dettaglio a basso volume e non si impastano i pieni orchestrali. Non suona come uno stato solido classico ma nemmeno come un valvolare classico. importante sapere:Il preamplificatore è usato e quindi ha piccole imperfezioni dovute allutilizzo, vedere le foto, la manopola del volume gioca leggermente meccanicamente un pochino e non influisce assolutamente sullutilizzo e sul suono, molto comodo per questo tipo di preamplificatore è il telecomando in dotazione. Per il resto è perfetto e non ha nessun problema.
