The sound of the Proton AP-1000 is very pleasing and includes a midrange control. Great sounding and musical preamp with excellent stereo separation and with the dual mono design. It manages to be clear and high-def sounding while maintaining some body and warmth without the harsh, lifeless cold sterility of other modern high-res units. Subwoofer outputs with 2 crossover points 75 and 150. Pre-out, sub-out, high-pass outputs which are great for subs or to biamp a speakers inputs if they have it. MM and MC phono with capacitance switch. All gold platted connections. Tone control defeat switch. Great sounding Phono section. Very warm sounding yet articulate, transparent, and detailed. Nice tonal balance. Neutral mid range. Wide sound stage attributed to its dual mono design. You can use this preamp in any priced audio applications and it will sound great.
