PROAC EBS hi fi speakers floor standing. Soon after owning these in 1994 the mid cones were rebuilt as a pair by Ashley at ATC; this was because one had a slight distortion which I noticed when a certain note was played on piano music. They have had no use for the last 5 years and previously were not used very much for years. I have tested them in the last 10 days and neither I or my children could hear any faults. A terminal was broken years ago when a book fell from the top of the speaker so the replacements are not identical to the originals. The correct stands I have stored away as the spikes would not help the floor! To get the best from the speakers you need to use the stands. Unfortunately you can see the result on the top from them being used as a pot plant support! There are also scratches plus small holes in the fabric plus a more obvious tear as per the photos. If you havent heard these, they are similar to the ATC 50 speakers which originally had the same size mid and bass units. I understand that the treble unit was different to the one that ATC originally were using. As background, speakers I had previously were Celestion SL6s, EPOS ES14, Yamaha NS1000 and ATC SCM20. The Proac EBS speakers are the only ones Ive stuck with since 1994 so yes I am very happy with them. You do need a good amplifier to do them justice. These can only be collected as they are extremely heavy and I do not have the original packaging. The speakers are also advertised elsewhere. As I said before Id love to sell them but my concern would be whether they would arrive in the same condition in Australia. Proac dont have any suitable packaging and when Ive checked elsewhere I havent found suitable packaging which would need to be really strong to accommodate the shipping. The Proacs originally had special strengthening for each corner which added a lot to the actual bulk of the speakers package too.The speakers without stands measure 842x337x302mm compared with the ATC50 (from their website) which shows 717x425x304 and they weigh 41.1kg (ATC weight). Though the Proacs have less depth, that saved weight is somewhat negated by their increased height (the stands add to that height). Ebays global shipping programme shows a maximum weight of 30kg so if you have the speakers stands too you have three heavy packages. Im pretty sure I filled the stands with dense sand too to minimise colourations from them so more weight. For most of the time I had these spiked directly through the wooden floor to the underlying concrete. I think really these need to be seen and collected by the buyer who can safely pack them in their vehicle.
