The turntable works flawlessly and keeps speed at both 33 1/3 and 45. There is an additional belt you can use to get 78. The turnable shows some sign of wear to the walnut veneer as can be seen in the photos. The wear is mostly seen on the front top edge and is also observed near the back where the hinges are located. The platter has some marks, and the cover has some damage from shipping which includes a large crack. A replacement cover can be obtained from Pro-ject. Ive had no problems with this turntable and Ive gotten great sound out of it. Overall the turntable works well and sounds amazing. The heavy acrylic platter with the 9 Carbon-Aluminium Tonearm with the mounted Sumiko Moonstone makes this a great turntable. The turnable includes everything you need to start listening to records, but does not include a phono preamp. This turntable was damaged during transit. There is a crack across the tone arm just behind where the cartridge mounts and two of the corners are missing some clear coat (see photos with finger pointing to the defects). Motor speeds and playback function, however, there is an intermittent hum if the tone arm wires are moved. This would be a great project (no pun intended) for a DIY’er or someone who isn’t overly concerned with cosmetics and wants to pick up a (relatively) high end turntable for cheap.
