This POLK LSi9 is in good to excellent condition and still carries the legendary deep bass [ some say deep boom]... that was unheard of for most bookshelf speakers in its day! Selling the one single unit shown in walnut finish. The sturdy, reinforced enclosure is in very good cosmetic condition, with light scratches on the top of the speaker as well as other minor signs of normal usage for its age, but in no way any type of hindrance to the original LSi9 sonic soundstage. The highly regarded ring-radiator tweeter placed off-center in between the mid-woofers was not only a sound-enriching element of the LSi series, but also an esthetic feature that many enjoyed displaying without the grille for its famous look. LOOKS CAN'T BE BEAT and that is why I've owned several LSi9 units, pairs and/or single, over the years. As for the sound that this speaker produces, you can research the facts of the history of these showing average to above average results, with some allowing for modification of the crossovers or whatever. Ideally, as a single standalone, I have used this before as an excellent center channel. Although this limits the bass and higher potential of this legend it still comes off as impressive. [ As a historical / evolutionary speaker tale, one might compare the LSi9 to be an infant baby version of its now fully grown adult Polk LEGEND L600 floor standing tower, a speaker that basically took many things that Polk used quite well over the years, including Vifa-type ring radiator tweeters and power-port cabinet technology, and perfected it to the best degree possible, some economic compromising notwithstanding, as some may claim. So one might make this baby vs adult comparison---but I won't] Anyway, note the clean looks, classic style and warm walnut finish. I would keep this excellent speaker for myself, but I would have to invest in another set of speaker stands, better suited for this more durable AND HEAVY bookshelf.
