It was specifically designed for the Digital front end systems. It has three line level inputs(No phono)- two RCA and one(CD input) with both RCA and Balanced XLR connections(you should use only one of your choice at any given time). There are three outputs- two RCA and one Balanced XLR. Front panel has a display and set of controls including Volume and Source,Mute,Menu and Phase selections. Unit comes with rare and VERY heavy remote control made out of solid billet of aluminum (uses 2 AAA batteries which are not included for safety purposes). Unit is for 120V operation and will come with standard power cord.I am the second owner and as such do not have original box or manual,but will pack safely for shipping. Cosmetics are extremely good. Very nice clean unit. All lights and display work as they should. Remote control works well. Now for the part why is it for sale as for Parts. The unit is faulty. I bought it that way with the hopes to restore,but I simply have no time to do it. Besides, I have plenty of other preamps at the moment. Unit powers up and yes, you can get the signal thru;however, unit constantly produces high frequency hiss and some weird oscillating sound constantly present and is loud enough that you can hear it above the music. This preamp needs attention of a technician, which I am not. I took a picture of the insides but do not see any burned out or otherwise visually defective elements anywhere on the board. Tandbergs Model 3012A integrated amplifier is rated to deliver 100 watts per channel into 8-ohm loads from 20 to 20,000 Hz with no more than 0.02 per cent distortion. It is packaged compactly, measuring 17-1/8 inches wide, 13-3/4 inches deep, and 3-1/4 inches high and weighing about 21-1/4 pounds. Its styling and size match those of current Tandberg tuners, and it can be stacked with one of them to form a receiver of exceptional quality. The amplifier is available in either matte-black or pewter finish.The front panel of the 3012 presents a simple, uncluttered appearance, yet it provides all the operating flexibility you expect from a top-grade amplifier. The large volume knob is concentric with a center-detented balance control. There is a front-panel headphone jack. Small pushbuttons control power, tone-control defeat, bass and treble turnover frequencies, and loudness compensation. A pair of peak clipping lights show when either channel is overdriven. Small detented rotary switches operate the speaker selection (a, b, a + b, off), the tone controls, and the record and program source selection. These last two controls enable the user to select different sources for simultaneous listening and tape recording. Within the amplifier circuitry, every opportunity was taken to eliminate known or suspected causes of signal degradation.The phono preamplifier of the 3012 accepts either a moving-magnet (MM) or moving-coil (MC) cartridge input; there are separate MM and MC input jacks, but no switching is required. Up for sale its a VERY GOOD condition Plinius Jarrah MM/MC phono stage.It comes complete with the external power supply that offers you the option for 110-230v so this can be used WORLDWIDE, everywhere.The phono stage is very flexible to handle any cartridge you wish from from any load require from 7.4? to 47k?. To change the gain, you need to open the unit (six screws), which takes some time, but allows you to see how well the product is built : a real marvel (no inexpensive op-amps but discreet components) ! Furthermore, the load can also be changed to match any particular impedance. The aluminium case with a very nice wood face plate is particularly elegant.Now about the sound. In two words : a fantastic result. Extremely refined and lively. Both accurate and subtle. This phono unit is nothing else than a direct link to the music : it is, to my ears, absolutely transparent. The bass control is excellent and the mid-range magic sometimes experiences with tubes is clearly here ! No grain in the sound as often notices with cost-effective phono stages.The earth post is extremely useful to reduce the noise floor to a very acceptable level.The Jarrah is a final point to my Plinius dream system. I have now found what I have been looking for during a long audiophile quest : the perfect gears. Now, I smile when remembering my first questions : SS or tube, digital or analog, etc...
