It divides the audio frequency spectrum into 12 segments from 16Hz to 32 kHz, with each segment corresponding to an octave. Individual controls for each segment provide continuous adjustment (from -10dB to +10dB) and allow the sound to be contoured in order to compensate for equipment and speaker characteristics, listening room acoustics or personal preferences.
