This is a stunning amplifier. From the moment I plugged the amplifier in and played it sounds fantastic. The depth to the sound is so much better that most amplifiers I have had. I havent polished as I like the patina look but will Polish up if shiney look required Postage at cost 6 41

I tested both sets of speaker outputs along with the balance, treble and volume controls. I tested the aux, phono and tuner inputs and they are working. I didnt test the tape inputs. VINTAGE PIONEER SA 5500 II STEREO AMPLIFIER 120 VOLT 15 WATTS/CHANNEL - SWEET!This classic, well preserved, example of the Pioneer SA-5500II is in excellent working and cosmetic condition. I bought it new and am downsizing my audio collection. It is rated conservatively at 15 watts RMS per channel at 0.5% THD. Every function has been tested and verified and all controls and switches have been cleaned and lubricated. This unit includes the following controls: Bass, Treble, Balance, Volume, Tape Monitor (1), Speakers A and/or B, Tuner, Aux and Phono inputs. Condition is great, everything works properly. There are only very minor signs of wear such as light scratches, and small scuffs on the faceplate which are only noticeable upon careful examination with good light. There is a tiny dent on the top of the cabinet about 1/8 wide and perhaps 1/32 deep that is hard to see in the pictures but Im mentioning it for completeness. There are a few minor scuffs and scratches on the sides and top of the cabinet that are hard to see in the pictures. There is also a black painted strip on the right side of the cabinet where there was a number engraved. Its really in great condition and I am going overboard to describe any imperfections so you know what you are buying.

PIONEER SA-5500II SA5500 SA 5500 II 2 STEREO AMPLIFIER, Works Great/ With Manual.

This late 70’s Pioneer SA 5500ii was purchased new by my father and was the amp in his office until my junior year in college in 1986 when he gifted me the amp for my first off-campus apartment. At the same time, he gifted me his late 60’s Dynaco A25 speakers and my growing record and tape collection was the gathering point for many a listening session for my friends and I. I have used this amp over the years in different rooms in my houses with different speakers and components and it has always been a solid performer. I have switched it in out of my current office setup over the last 20 years but I have become obsessed with a little tube amp and synergistic speaker combo for the past 5 years and feel it is time to pass this simple, solid, great sounding little workhorse along. It just seems cruel to keep it in my closet hidden from the world. (And my kids have already gotten more than their fair share of audiophile hand-me-downs by this point…) Face plate is in beautiful condition, some signs of use but really impressively clean for its age. (Zoom in to photo for condition). Case has some signs of use - stacking components etc but is also in great shape - no dents or dings. Everything works. Good phono stage! Tape loop to add an equalizer or other sound processing equipment (or a tape deck!) Pots are quite clean - volume pot has a little crackle that almost entirely goes away when you spin the knob back and forth a couple times when you start it up - never bothered me much but would probably clear right up if you wanted to de-ox it or other wise clean the pot contacts. Original orange power light - works! No functional issues whatsoever. With the right speakers this little amp sings beautifully! And it’s silverface simplicity makes it a real vintage looker.
