Offered for your consideration is one (1) vintage PIONEER #HP-015A-4 High Polymer super tweeter removed from my HPM-40 speakers, manufactured in Japan. This ultra-high frequency driver was also used in Pioneer’s HPM-60 and HPM-100 models. It shows a 1979 build code on the orange product sticker and differs from the later B-variant of this driver only in faceplate thickness and the +/- terminal positioning. I have no doubt they are interchangeable since I’ve found an A-suffix and a B-suffix super tweeter in a pair of HPM-40 speakers several times. So, please take a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this indispensable PIONEER upper frequency driver is correct for your needs. This PIONEER super tweeter is in clean, excellent condition. The polymer film is flawlessly smooth underneath the perfect condition protective metal screen. Plus, the faceplate is also perfect with no cracks, scratches, or marks. Lastly, the +/- terminals are marked for polarity and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, it’s exceptionally well-preserved. The PIONEER HPM speakers used this super tweeter to top-off the driver ensemble and it covers all the way to an impressive 25kHz. I tested it recently and it worked perfectly—clear and very crisp—but the output is very faint by design as with all of these super tweeter units I’ve handled over the years. It carries upwards from 10kHz as crossed-over in the HPM-40; 12kHz in the 60 and 100. Plus, since it lacks a magnet or moving parts no DC resistance reading can be made. Lastly, the faceplate measures 3 3/16” x 2 ?16”, it projects about ?” from the cabinet (incl. the hemispherical radiating surface) and the mount holes are spaced 2 13/16” long way / 1?” short way apart, c-t-c. So, if your HPM-40, 60, or 100 speakers have a blown or damaged super tweeter, you’ve found the right listing—your speaker will be sounding and looking its best again in no time! Offered for your consideration is a vintage PIONEER #45-711B-1 1¾ inch cone tweeter removed from my HPM-40 speakers, manufactured in Japan. This outstanding high frequency driver was also used in the PIONEER HPM-60 and HPM-100 models. It has what appears to be a 1979 build code on the magnet cover and differs from the later “C”-variant of this driver only in magnet shape (thicker, but not as wide, and two ounces heavier overall) so I image they’re interchangeable. So, please have a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this superb PIONEER tweeter is correct for your needs. *Although the listing is written largely in singular to avoid any confusion, two (2) PIONEER #45-711B-1 tweeters are available at time of this writing. This PIONEER tweeter is in clean, excellent condition. The lightweight paper cone, center cap, and suspension edging are all perfect and the lead-in wires are also unharmed. Plus, the cast aluminum-alloy frame is in great shape with no dings or scratches, just a tiny mark or two as pictured. And, the +/- terminals are marked for polarity, measure the industry standard .205”, and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this tweeter looks practically new! Most importantly, I tested it recently and the sound is wonderful—strong output with well-pronounced upper midrange and clear highs. Plus, I tested its DC resistance at 5.9?, consistent with an 8 ohm nominal driver rating of the past (6 ohm ratings were not in widespread use when it was made). Lastly, the faceplate measures 4¾” diameter, it stands about 1?” tall, and the mounting holes are spaced 2?” adjacent / 4 1/16” diagonal apart, c-t-c.
