A rare opportunity to own a Philips EL3310 mono tape recorder complete with EL1976/00 microphone, both fully working (see video) and in overall superb condition. This model was produced during the late 1960s and was the worlds first home use mono tape recorder. As you can see from the photos, it has survived the intervening 50 years or so remarkably well with only minor signs of its age and use. The only element that lets it down is the crack in the transparent speaker flap which has been glued at some stage by a previous owner. I feel sure this repair could be improved upon, but plastics are not my area of expertise. I have opened the unit up and replaced all drive belts with new, cleaned the record/playback heads and generally removed years of dust to ensure it operates as correctly as possible. No electronic components were replaced, but I saw no evidence of leaking capacitors or dry solder points. The video demonstrates playback of a pre-recoded cassette, but I have also tested recording with the EL1976/00 microphone and it functions wonderfully. I am also including a DIN speaker cable (not pictured) which would allow you to connect to an external speaker. These are exceptionally rare now, I havent seen another listed for sale for quite some time and certainly not fully functional in this condition. A real collectors item.
