Philips Compact Cassette Recorder EL3302A Tape Deck 1960s - NEAR IMMACULATE BOXED This really is a time-warp item dating back to the min 60s I acquired it late 90s where it has been in my wardrobe ever since. I cant recall trying it then as I would not have the required batteries and its not clear if there is a mains socket on this. So I had to buy batteries this week to try it. Condition wise it is extremely good and defies its age of nearly 60 years ! I believe this is an early model dating to 1965 made in Austria.The outer box is excellent but missing any packing foams etc. There are 2 sets of mics included. 2 separate ones and a bigger single mic complete with its own stand - again all in good shape.The player is in its own carrier with strap to protect it. Judging by this the unit has been well looked after. The strap showing no signs of use whatsoever. Once removed it is evident this player probably hasnt had much use. All the brushed sides aluminium style case is in as new order. Also the controls show no sign of rubbing or wear. Also included is the instruction manual and a wiring diagram I actually found tucked inside the battery compartment.Once batteries were installed it became evident the unit will not play tapes. I can hear the motor run and battery indicator show full power. The motor noise was quite uniform so the motor still seems to function.Upon youtube investigation it appears the drive belts on these perish. I removed the single screw on the back cover and it revealed the belt has failed. Literally turning in to a soggy liquorice type substance. There are clear videos on you tube how to change them and it does not look to challenging. Also belts seem to be available at no great cost.I will include the batteries I bought for the test in the sale as I have no other device that uses these. To finish looking through all the ones currently on ebay now I believe this one to be in the best complete condition - Ideal for a 60s electronics collector or Philips fanatic. Philips EL3302A/15P Vintage Cassette Player. I have owned this since 1973 and was in good working order until I stopped using it. I haven’t tested it to see if it still works. Cosmetically in good condition, just a small piece of plastic missing on hinge of cassette lid, doesn’t create a problem. Still with original carrying case and shoulder strap.
