Das Gerät war ein kaum benutzter Aussteller. Das originale Zubehör und die OVP sind dabei. Das Gerät hat ein kleines Problem: die CD-Schublade kann ein kleines Stück nach vorne aus der Gerätefront heraus rutschen wenn der Player im ausgeschalteten Zustand bewegt oder auf einen anderen Platz gestellt wird. Wir reden hier von wenigen Centimetern im Bereich um ca. 2 cm herum, in dem die Schublade herausrutschen kann. Den Schließmechanismus beeinträchtigt das nicht, die Schublade fährt normal ein- und aus. Wird das Gerät nicht bewegt und steht fest auf einem Platz, bleibt die Schublade an Ort und Stelle.Aufgrund dieses Problems stelle ich das Gerät allerdings als defekt ein um jegliche Missverständnisse zu vermeiden. Der CD-Player ist, abgesehen von der beschriebenen überschaubaren Problematik bei der CD-Schublade, optisch und technisch in einem allgemein guten bis sehr guten Zustand und klingt hervorragend, die Philips-Wandler sind klanglich einfach angenehmer als moderne CD-Player. Wenn eine CD eingelegt wird liest der Philips blitzschnell und problemlos ein und spielt sauber ab. Ich habe es auch mit vollgepackten Compilation CDs getestet, er liest wunderbar und blitzschnell ein. Es gibt auch einen Kopfhörer-Anschluss. Darauf wird ja bei modernen CD-Playern inzwischen oft einfach verzichtet. Dank des Digitalausgangs wäre es auch denkbar den Philips als reines CD-Laufwerk zu verwenden. Even the remote control—a heavy aluminum unit with multi-function, backlit buttons—screams Quality! The coup de grace is the CD-303/200s transport mechanism, a Philips CDM12, which is good enough as is; Cary addition of a thick, machined drawer warmed this metallurgists heart. The Cary is surprising—in a good way—in its abundance of features. Cary calls it a CD transport/processor because it has digital inputs and outputs, as well as both balanced and unbalanced analog outputs. The CD-303/200 is nicely executed, particularly given its price. Its dominated by the Philips transport assembly, which is encased in a heavy steel channel bisecting the unit from front to back. On one side of the channel are the C-core transformer and two power-supply boards, one for the transport, one for the audio circuits. I remember when the Cary 300/300 CD came out. I compared 300/200 to it and found this 300/200 to have a more dynamic lifelike presentation. So I kept this and have enjoyed it immensely ever since. Cosmetically it is in very good condition. It has a slight amount of paint rubbed off on the edge of the cover -- see photo -- and a tiny nick on the left of the front.
