This Phase Linear model 5000 Series Two tuner was made between 1977 and 1980 and cost $580.00 at that time. Phase Linear was Bob Carvers first company and presaged his future design talent and innovation. This unit is in very clean condition. I tested it, and it sounds and works well but could use an alignment. (The tuning meter is off center when the stereo light comes on, which is typical of all vintage tuners. They drift out of alignment as they age.) Phase Linear and Carver components are IMO some of the best-looking equipment from that era and are still great-looking and modern by todays standards. When I was in college, I used to visit high-end audio shops and wished I could afford one of these. I also listed the 4000 Series Two preamp controller, so see my other listings.
