When listening, the Y version differs from the K with a fantasticpresentation of the soundstage that widens and increases in depth, with greaterfocus and brightness of the instruments. The sound is very full, round, with alot of body and deeper bass. It is like listening to a class A orchestra against a class B orchestra: the main one being that each of theinstrumentalists in the class A orchestra not only controls his instrument better,but also produces the best sound quality from his instrument. Ive heard recent R2R Dacs with SMD resistors but I think theyare far from this CIP if well implemented with receiver, oversampler andanalogue output stage up to par. The CIP Y was produced in Japan and Korea, the Japan productionexhibits a softer and more mellow sound, the Korea production has a neutral andnot sweetened sound compared to Japan.
