We corrected a short in the power supply that was blowing the line fuse, and we replaced the fuse3. We repaired internal voltage regulators, so that all internal voltages are correct4. We replaced capacitors, resistors, BJ Ts, FETs, and repaired a couple opens caused by poor soldering technique 5. Multiple new output transistors were replaced with matching oriignals purchased from a reputable US supplier6. New power MOSFETs were installed from our stock and a reputable US supplier7. Bias was set so crossover distortion was not visible on our scope up to 20 kHz (crossover distortion minimized)8. DC offset was checked and is 1 mV or less per channel9. Bridging function was checked10. We checked flatness from 100 Hz to 10 kHz, and the channels were flat to within 5%11. After service, measured power output at 1 kHz into 8 Ohms, one channel driven, is 213 W RMS for the left channel & 215 W RMS for the right channel at clip.12. Total bridged power was more than 640 Watts RMS at 1 kHz into 8 Ohms at the onset of clipping13. I bought this amp new in the 90s and used it for a pair of passive subs, then the rear channels in a surround setup. Unfortunately, a couple of years ago, I was using it in an experiment for work driving a piece of equipment and blew out one of the channels. I spent $100 to get it evaluated for repair, and the guy I took it to said it had enough damage to one or more of the boards that it would not be worth repairing. One channel still works fine though, so you could use it for a passive sub, a center channel, or a monoblock. Or just the parts. Cosmetically in pretty good shape; see the pictures. Includes the power cord in the picture The amp has two issues: 1) A prior owner cut the sides off on the front panel fins to I assume fit into a cabinet. This does not impact functionality at all. Was done by someone who knows their way around a metal shop as there are no rough edges to the raw metal. 2) The volume POTs on the back must stay at full volume (THX). If you reduce the volume, lots of noise gets introduced into the sound and becomes very scratchy. I suspect this is a cheap, easy fix with the right electronics cleaner. Parasound HCA-1200 ll High Current power amplifier. I’m not a sound expert by any means so I’m selling “as-is” for parts or repair. System powers on and connects to speakers. Sounds great when my phone is connected from both speakers. Only issue I ran into is that there was static when I adjusted the THX levels on the back or the sound would drop off when turned down to a low level. Sounds great when THX levels are turned up on the back of the unit.
